December Giveaway Day

****This giveaway is now closed****

Sew, Mama, Sew is at it again with yet another Giveaway Day!  Be sure to head on over there for many other giveaways from other bloggers (if you didn’t find me from Sew, Mama, Sew in the first place, and if you did be sure to head back for other giveaways).

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are able to take the time to check out some of my other projects and tutorials.  You might like the kindle case tutorial or the elastic waistband tutorial.  I also have a couple of reviews on the Bernina 330 (here and here) if you are interested in researching a wonderful new machine.  Some of my favorite projects that I have made are the car cozy, fabric turtle, and layer cake skirt.

Giveaway Items

In May, for the first Giveaway Day that I participated in, I decided to make something to giveaway, so this time I decided I would giveaway some “tools” for you to make something.

11-12-11_SewMamaSewGiveaway2.jpg

I have included two 100% cotton fat quarters from Jo-Ann Fabrics in purple (my favorite!), a 16” YKK zipper from Zipit, a Dritz measuring gauge (blogged about here), and a 5 pack of Universal Schmetz needles.

If you win please share a picture of what you decide to make!!  I might be a little jealous that I didn’t get a whole yard of this fabric so I could keep some for myself!

  1. For Christmas I’ve made my sister a beach bag, my two nephews dragon/dinosaur tails and my son (should be born next month!!!) a cute monster doll. <3

  2. So far, I’ve made a few zippered pouches in various sizes (along with gift cards as a gift), a tote bag for little books for my niece, and bow ties for all my guys (3 boys and husband). I still want to make some more zippered make-up bags or smaller credit card holder size as well as jedi bathrobes for the boys, a grocery bag holder for my mom, sand bags for my father-in-law (like to rest his gun on? – not even sure what this looks like, someone said he needed new ones), a travel neck pillow for a niece, and anything else I can think of before Christmas – oh yeah, some little sleeping bags for my daughter’s doll house dolls to go camping. My husband has been making things with the kids for them to give to others in the family – a climbing wooden monkey, a ping-pong ball maze, some trays for playing restaurant, and I’m not sure what else.

  3. I have made several stockings and ornaments, and will be making more ornaments (remembrance ornaments for those who have lost loved ones this year) and an advent calendar (ok, that one is for my family for next year, but it counts, right?). I think I’d like to try to make a dress for my little girl from the supplies you’re giving away. That purple is my absolute favorite color on her (she’s only two, so I don’t need a ton of fabric for that – yay!)

  4. Last year I made zipper pouches, mug rugs, and a firewood tote for my brother. This year I have been knitting cowls, scarves, and mitts for small gifts (because I can knit while I wait for my kids at karate, etc…), and my 12-yr-old daughter and I are making a quilt for my 6-yr-old daughter. Merry Christmas!

  5. So far I’ve knitted a lot of stuff: a sweater for my 1 yr. old nephew, a shawl for grandma, a cap for my boyfriend, and fingerless mittens for a few others. Knitting takes longer than sewing for me, so once the knitting stuff is done, on to the sewn items!

  6. I’ve made a runner, and a quilt for Christmas so far…hopefully two more runners before all is said and done. It’s been busy.

Thanks for a chance to win. =)

  7. A lot of little drawstring bags with toys in them, a couple pot holders, 2 table runners and a quilt. This was definitely my best “homemade” Christmas so far.

  8. I am making passport covers/luggage tags for my brothers, a quilt for my mom and an e-reader cover/jewelry roll for my sister. I am also making scarfs for all of them. Can’t wait to give my gifts!

  9. This year, I made taggie blankets, drawstring backpacks, bracelets, and some pant/top outfits for gifts.

  10. I’ve made aprons for friends, raglan shirts for my nieces and nephew, a quilt for my niece. I have a few things to finish up – taggie blankets, car cozy etc.

  11. So far I’ve made a mug rug and some coasters for my grandparents and I’m also embroidering kitchen towels for my mom by request!

  12. I made some tea wallets for gifts this year. I’m new to quilting and they were just perfect for my skill set. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.

  13. This year, I have bought several handmade gifts, but only made one big one myself. I finally learned to crochet this year and made my daughter a blanket in her favorite color, which also happens to be purple. We have also made salt dough ornaments that she will be giving as gifts.

  14. I still need to make two pillowcases, and outfit the dolly bed with bedding and matching nighties for the great-niece and her doll. Starting to panic.

  15. Making wall hangings/mini quilts for people. Decided to go less homemade – and be less stressed. Not tackling making 8 different quilts like I did last year. (okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a little bit. )

  16. Cool..!
I’ve made several things this year. I knitted scarf and washcloth to my cousin, sew a pencil case to another cousin in Japan, cross-stitched and sew a wedding pillow to my new sister-in-law, and made several clothes for my son~

  17. I’m making pjs for my mom this year. I’ve had the fabric in my stash for awhile and it seems like good timing.

  18. For people at work I made potholders, with a pine tree quilt square, combined with a recipe card for my favorite roll out cookie, and a cookie cutter all tied with a red ribbon. Cute giveaway, love purple too!

  19. I made a clock for one person, ornaments to top of as many gifts as I can, and a shadow box for my Nana….so far….LOL! jinglesells at gmail dot com

  20. I made baby quilts and dollie quilts for my grandnieces. Thanks for the giveaway. One grandniece loves purple and this would be great for a spring dress with ruffles.

  21. only making baked goods for Christmas this year since I’m working on a quilt for my daughter’s wedding next year.

  22. I’m relatively new to sewing and have been working on some simple projects. I made some baby bibs for my sister – she’s having twins in March! I’m also working on some Christmas stockings for my family.

Thanks for the opportunity to win your giveaway! Happy Holidays!

  23. I made some quilts, a camera bag, a couple of pouches, a few tote bags, some ties and a table topper for Christmas presents.

  24. i’ve made cookies, crocheted garlands, stuffed fabric houses from Scandinavian Stitches–adorable, salt dough ornaments, scarves, and felted acorns!

    thanks for the great giveaway!

  25. JUST FINISHING A RED+CREAM TABLE RUNNER FOR MY DAUGHTER>SO FUN!
    THANKS FOR SHARING!
    MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!

  26. I made a wall hanging for my aunt that taught me how to sew and a ton of felt mermaids for the little girls on my list.

  27. I have made candle mats and mini holiday quilts for friends. I want to do some baking, I’m in that mode more than anything this year.

  28. I am making a fabric doll carrier for my niece, a lamb softie for my baby girl and I still hope to get two doodlepads done for my boys. I gave up on the idea of two doodlepads AND two quiet books. Oh and after you posted about the measuring tool, I went out and bought another one because mine was lost…. and guess what turned up. Oh well, those are so nice to have around, EVERYWHERE.

  29. I’m making sock monkeys for my kids this year. 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win!

  30. I make green bag lady totes to wrap all my gifts in! I love reusable totes and they are so easy to make.

  31. im knitting all my gifts this year..i made a lace shawl for my mum ..a cowl for my sister and grandmother.. plus a couple other little things 🙂

  32. I will be making a lot of different things, like some aprons and luggage tags. I will definitely pin your blog so I can come back and spend some more time here!

  33. I have made mattresses and pillows for a baby doll bunk bed – still have another set to go – and also some bean bags with a bag to hold them in. That’s it this year.

  34. I’ve been making reusable shopping bags in the style of the green bag lady. I also made some easy but cute earrings by gluing cabochons to studs. Happy crafting!

  35. I have made a lot of bags and zipper pouches but still need to make pillowcases to wrap the grandkiddos Christmas jammies in. LOVE that handy measuring gauge.

  36. I am a little behind schedule so am only making cookies and candy for my homemade gifts this year, but I am really interested in learning a new craft in the new year. I’ve been reading about recycling old t-shirts and making “yarn” that you can weave with.

  37. I made my sister an apron and crocheted her some leg warmers. I am making my mom a purse and my godson and daughters super hero capes. Thanks for the chance to win.

  38. I am making my daughter a quilt for her toddler bed. Her room is actually lavender so this fabric would work perfectly in it!

  39. I like to make cell phone shoulder strap pouches as gifts. Fat quarters are perfect for this. Very useful and practical to have to keep your cell phone close and be “hands free” whether you are puttering around at home or out and about. By the way, purple is my FAVORITE color.

  40. This year I’m planning on making some different homemade liqueurs for some of my gift list.
