Adjusting Boxed Corners

When I made Lillian’s Trick or Treat bag I was originally going to make it two inches in depth.  Once I finished the outside and really looked at the bag I realized that I wanted it to be a little wider.  Luckily, it was an easy fix!

All that I had to do was turn the bag wrong side out.  Then I matched up the seams again and drew a line across that was three inches long.  I then sewed along the line the same as I did before.  Cut off the excess fabric and I had a bag with a depth of three inches instead of two.

I’m sure you already know this but this is only possible if you want to make a deeper bag.  If I had decided that I wanted a depth of one inch instead of two I would have had to completely redo the bag.
