This summer I made Lillian a Hopscotch Tunic from Peek a Boo Pattern Shop. I have to admit that it’s not my favorite thing that I’ve made for Lillian. The fit just isn’t right, but I’m not sure why. I think part of the problem is that she is so small, so she needed a smaller size, yet more length added. I made this before the Perfect Peasant Dress and with making that dress I realized that I truly did need to make alterations because of Lillian’s small size, yet her height is longer than the small size. So I was a little late on that discovery. With that said, I will still probably try to make this again because I’ve seen so many other cute ones.
I do think part of it was that I wasn’t a fan of the way the fabrics looked together. I think the darker purple was a little too overpowering for the lighter fabric. Just a personal preference. Now that I’ve been sewing more clothes, I think I would make the “skirt” part narrower so that it didn’t stick out so much. The things that you learn from experience!
Here is a view from the back. Lots of buttons…well, not too many on this size, but the larger sizes would have a lot of buttons. Buttons and buttonholes are not really my friend yet. I can never get them lined up like I would like to! Again, experience will help with that.
I do think the shirt is pretty cute, I just don’t love it. Lillian also didn’t love it, but that is only because she had to stand still for more than 2 seconds in order to get the buttons buttoned. I think she would like it better this coming summer, but I don’t really think it will fit. We will see if I get another made for this summer or if I just try different patterns.
I’m terrible about that! Always trying new things instead of making more of the patterns I have. I guess I won’t get bored that way, right?
I’ve noticed that my blog has become all about making clothes for Lillian. I should probably work on that. haha Like I mentioned in my last post, I have some new projects to share with you soon. My next sewing “tasks” are things for the baby, one of which will include a diaper bag, so that is something that isn’t clothing related. If you are bored with the clothes, hang in there, because I have some other things that will eventually make it to the blog! Three of which are for the kids and will include pattern pieces.

Lillian is just adorable. What a cute smile!
Anxious to see your baby sewing – I love baby things!
Hope all is well with your pregnancy – although the end of a pregnancy isn’t all that fun I am sure it’s nothing compared to what you have gone though. Have a good day!
